WordPress plugin
The plugin does one thing: it adds the Convertlyft tag to the public pages of your site, so you do not have to paste a script into your theme. It never loads on admin pages, and it adds no other scripts, styles or requests. No key, no tag: clear the key and the tag is gone.
- In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New, search for “Convertlyft”, then install and activate it.
- Sign in to Convertlyft and copy your site key from the install snippet. It starts with pk_.
- Go to Settings → Convertlyft, paste the key and press Save. Convertlyft starts receiving data as soon as a page with the tag loads.
You need a Convertlyft account for the site key: start free. The plugin needs WordPress 6.0 or later and PHP 7.4 or later. Already pasted the snippet into your theme? Remove it first: a second copy on a page does nothing.
What it records and what it asks for
The plugin itself sends nothing. The tag it adds records visits the same way it does on any site, and our privacy policy lists what it collects. To stop, clear the site key or deactivate the plugin.
Shopify app
The app adds the Convertlyft tag to your storefront through a switch in your theme, and connects checkout tracking itself: each checkout step and the order, so a visit can be followed to a purchase or to the step where it stopped. Shopify bills your plan.
- Install Convertlyft from the Shopify App Store.
- In your theme editor, switch Convertlyft on under App embeds, then save.
- Open Convertlyft from your Shopify admin: it connects checkout tracking. Open full Convertlyft takes you to your workspace on convertlyft.com.
What it records and what it asks for
- It asks Shopify for three permissions only: to add the checkout pixel, to receive its checkout events, and to read your theme, to see whether the Convertlyft embed is on. It does not ask for access to your orders, products or customers.
- From your store it reads your store’s name, email address, Shopify store id and web addresses, to set up your store’s Convertlyft workspace.
- Checkout tracking sends, for each checkout step: the step, when it happened, the page path, the order value and currency, the order id, the number of line items, and the visitor and visit ids. It never sends shoppers’ names, email addresses, phone numbers or postal addresses.
- Recordings of your storefront hide what shoppers type into fields, and email addresses and long numbers, such as phone and card numbers, shown on the page.
- Nothing records until Shopify’s customer privacy setting allows analytics for that shopper.
- Remove the app and we stop accepting your store’s data at once. Shopify asks us to erase it 48 hours later, and our erase job deletes it.
